We target challenges that align with our core expertise, technology and high-performance compute (HPC) to accelerate time to market for new solutions.
Our current challenge focus areas are energy production and climate tech but we are open to receiving those within the clean tech, climate tech and deep tech sectors that align with our core capabilities.
Upon development of minimum viable product/solution and market validation, we determine the most suitable pathway for scaling and commercialisation.
Offshore geothermal
Leveraging existing data, expertise, equipment and technology from the geothermal and hydrocarbon industries to identify and develop offshore geothermal resources for power generation and the co-production of fresh water, green hydrogen and green ammonia along with the potential for CO2 drawdown, utilisation (efuels) and storage.
Natural H2 Exploration
Global rock, gas and water database, ML driven remote sensing workflows and geophysics combined with subsurface and fluid systems expertise to develop natural H2 generation models and play concepts to support efficient and effective natural H2 exploration.
GradeSpex
Improve safety in mining by remotely and consistently analyzing faces without risking geologists’ lives.
We are collaborating with OffWorld on the journey towards safe and efficient mining operations. As part of this collaboration we are conducting underground field testing of Viridien's advanced spectral imaging system mounted on Offworld's Surveyor Bot to advance rapid, reliable and remote subsurface geological mapping.
Our solution employs a hyperspectral data acquisition system for 3D geological mapping in all conditions. The system identifies minerals essential for ore and waste classification and flags potential geotechnical hazards, enabling rapid identification of ore versus waste ratios for efficient mining operations. The processed results seamlessly integrate with industry-standard software for informed decision-making.
High-resolution climate modeling
Utilising our expertise in physics-based earth systems modelling combined with our significant HPC capacity (>500 petaflops) we have developed probabilistic high temporal and spatial resolution climate modelling capability to produce bespoke climate forecasts.
Our global, Earth systems model (ESM) is designed to represent the climate system at a similar fidelity to the models used for climate change projections but at the same resolution as the numerical weather prediction models that help make weather forecasts.
Our ESM model provides forecasts for up to two years ahead and can help you create a view of risk specific to the year ahead, or, run in tandem with a climate change projection, can bring narrative detail to your physical risk scenarios.
