- Identify complex hydrocarbon compounds within samples identified as promising source rocks via Rock Eval analysis
- Extract hydrocarbons using either solvent-based methods, such as cold dichloromethane (DCM), or cold hexane extraction
- Precisely separate and analyze extracted hydrocarbons into their individual components via gas chromatography-mass spectrometry (GC-MS)
