Our Viridien Brand

CGG has transitioned into Viridien, marking the next stage in its strategic growth as an Advanced Technology, Digital and Earth Data company that pushes the boundaries of science for a more prosperous and sustainable future.

Why Viridien?

We take our great history and achievements with us and build on these to define a new era of growth for our company.

Viridien is a tribute to our purpose, together with our growth aspirations for the future.

The origins of the name Viridien come from the Latin word ‘Viridis’ meaning ‘fresh, green, drawn from the root’.

We selected the French spelling of Viridien, and this, combined with the suffix ‘ien’ meaning ‘coming from’, acknowledges our rich history, strength and deep roots.

At this important moment in our journey, we are leveraging who we have been, and are today, to become our future, Viridien

We see things differently, always open to new and different perspectives, which enables us to learn and grow.

Viridien which depicts the mixed colors of the world, represents our global mix of cultures, genders and viewpoints, bringing diverse perspectives and ideas as we seek new and better solutions to address some of the world’s most complex challenges.

Our new name is a strong symbol of who we are and who we will become. We are Viridien.

The name Viridien is a strong, distinctive tech sounding name. It emotes confidence with high speech-stream visibility to stand out amongst other names.

This together with Viridien evoking thoughts of nature and the environment, firmly positions us in our existing and new markets and reinforces the role we play in enabling a more prosperous future for our stakeholders and the planet.

Viridien Brand FAQ

Is the name change linked to a change in our strategy or organization?
No, the change of name to Viridien reinforces the continued successful implementation of our existing strategy and current organization.

How did the change of name affect the Company's listing on the Paris Stock Exchange?
On May 21st, 2024 the stock ticker symbol changed from CGG to VIRI.
The ISIN code remained the same: FR0013181864.

Does this change have any implications on existing contracts and agreements?
Despite the change of parent company name, the legal entity name remains the same.
Therefore, in general terms, a change of name of a party is not a variation of contract as such, so, contracts remain in force and valid, including all their rights and obligations. The only reason to amend a contract to reflect the new name is if, unusually, the agreement makes express provision to that effect.

In addition, the names of our subsidiaries (example: CGG Services SAS and CGG Services (US) Inc.), did not change at the General Meeting on May 15, 2024, and their contracts are also not impacted by the name change of their parent company.

This change does not affect our daily operations, and all aspects of our business are continuing as usual.

Does this change have any implication for contractors and suppliers?

This change does not affect our daily operations including contracts, purchase orders, invoicing, bank account details, contact details, etc. All aspects of our business including supply chain and accounts payable services continue as usual.
